This unit aims to deepen students' understanding of character traits, both internal and external, using Kevin Henkes' books, dance, and crafts. Tailored for 1st through 3rd graders, it strengthens their connection to book characters and their defining traits. Through improvisational movement, students embody traits like bossy, friendly, shy, and playful. They then express external traits through costume choices. Additionally, students create special character trait masks adorned with symbols representing their traits. The unit culminates in a lively masquerade ball where students showcase their character insights through movement.
